There is nothing like strawberry season in Niagara.  Those delicious, vitamin packed berries will be at the Farmers' Market this Saturday, and promise to make more appearances in the weeks to come.  They certainly do steal the show!  Here in Niagara and at the Market, we are still enjoying local rhubarb, asparagus, lettuce, chard, and collard greens, and every week more and more farmers are joining us as their crops ripen.  As always, we have naturally raised meats, eggs, jams and preserves, made-to-order floral bouquets, fresh-baked breads, pies, and desserts. 

Commissioned by the Shaw FestivalMichael O’Brien’s adaptation of C.S Lewis’s The Magician’s Nephew opens the 2018 season on the Festival Theatre stage. No stranger to Narnia, Artistic Director Tim Carroll helms the first installment of this treasured fantasy series.

The small plot of graves is immediately distinguishable from the others in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery. Surrounded by a small iron fence, the 25 graves the bear the emblem of a white eagle, the symbol of a free Poland. The soldiers were newly emigrated Polish-Americans when they travelled from the U.S to Niagara-on-the-Lake to train for an independent Polish army during the First World War.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club has also announced its support of the Niagara-on-theLake Step Challenge. The challenge, a community-wide initiative supported by the Town’s Active Transportation Committee, began on June 1 and ends on June 30. The 41 teams, which include a total of 171 participants, have been in fierce competition, and currently, the North Shore Mountaineers are in the lead.

Community Support Services of Niagara is a volunteer based, client-driven community support services to help seniors and adults with disabilities live independently in their own homes.Free home assessments and recommendations to help seniors remain safely in their homes. The service includes installation of grab bars, home repairs and snow removal to prevent falls. The program also provides education for fall prevention and referral to other services.

This Wednesday evening, June 14th, find your way to one of Toronto’s premier jazz venues, The Jazz Bistro, on the corner of Victoria and Dundas, for an evening of world class, star-studded jazz. The Jazz Bistro will host TD Niagara Jazz Festival’s second annual ‘Sneak Peek’ for its 3-day festival in Niagara, running July 28 -30th.
